We offer a variety of field studies on non-target organisms

These ecotoxicological field studies are vitally important in evaluating the possible impacts of plant protection products in the natural environment. The studies are conducted with non-vertebrates and wild life - non-vertebrates tested are mainly non-target arthropods that represent no threat to a particular crop.

This group is very diverse and plays an essential role in ecosystems as pest controllers (predators), pollinators, detrivores and saprophages. The field studies are conducted with species occurring naturally at the field site. The focus of these studies can be either on a selected group or on the community.

Predatory Mite Field Studies

A standard field trial in vineyards and apple orchards are carried out to investigate short and long term effects on the population development of leaf-dwelling phytoseiid mites (Acari: Phytoseiidae). The study runs according to the guideline (BLÜMEL et al., 2000).

NTA Field In and Off-Crop

Scientists at Eurofins Agroscience Services have performed large field studies in orchards and on arable crops since 1999 in Northern and Southern Europe. Experience enables our team to adapt designs of trials specific to your requirements. The off-crop design was developed by Eurofins Agroscience Services together with industry partners, it is the only standard dose response design for field testing.

Good contacts and participation in international working groups (ESCORT 3) guarantee that all trials are carried out according to the latest guidelines (Candolfi et al. 2000, de Jong et al. 2010). The species are identified by our own in-house taxonomy team in Amsterdam.

Arthropod Insect Residue

Studies are used to assess the amount of residues a bird might be exposed to if it feeds on arthropods contaminated by plant protection products. Our long-term entomological experience allows us to choose the appropriate sampling method to allow for enough material for analytical analysis.

Drift Residue Field

Drift of abraded dust of insecticidal seed treatments has allegedly resulted in bee poisoning incidents in the past. To investigate the dust deposition during sowing of coated seeds or granule application with pneumatic or mechanical sowing machinery, field studies are carried out following the most recent guidelines. We can offer robust wind speed and direction measurements up to 5 m. 

We have been conducting dust deposition and dust filter trials since 2009 with different machinery and crops within different countries. We can adapt the design of the requested study to your needs.
